Description
This article from InSource Solutions Group shows how to resolve a tag count violation in Historian.
Historian will only log data for licensed tags. When you go over that limit, you will see “Tag count violation” in the License status under Management Console > Status in the OCMC and those tags that go over the limit will not be logged.

There are two common reasons for why this occurs. Either you're simply over the licensed limit, or your historian is grabbing the wrong license (most commonly a development license which only allows 500 tags).
Solution Steps:
Case 1: Historian is grabbing the wrong license
The simplest way to resolve this is to deactivate the incorrect license (and all possible incorrect licenses) in the license manager. When that's not an option, you can check out the correct Historian license. For more information regarding checking out licenses, you can refer to the following tech note/documentation:
Check out licenses using License Manager
Using the AVEVA Checkout Utility to manually check out licenses
In either case, once you have made your changes in the license manager, right click Management Console > All Tasks > Shutdown (and disable) Historian

Wait for all the modules to go red

Then right click Management Console > All tasks > Enable (allow to run) Historian.
Case 2: You're over the licensed limit
If you're over the licensed limit, you're options are to either reduce the number of tags you are historizing, or upgrade your license. To remove tags from being historized can vary greatly from system to system, but the most common sources are from System Platform IDE attributes, InTouch tags using historian logging, and IDAS tags.
To remove historization from tags in the System Platform IDE, find the attribute in questions and ensure that “History” is not checked in Available features.

To remove historization from tags in InTouch, open the Tagname dictionary and uncheck “Log Data”.

To remove historization from IDAS tags, you can simply delete the tag from System Configuration > Tag Configuration. As always, exercise caution when making destructive changes.

To help identify which tags are not being logged you can refer to the following tech note: How to search for unlicensed historian tags
