Solution

Per Aveva "Running the Sentinel installers from the product directory in the installation media doesn’t work. I think that, if it did, we wouldn’t be waiting on a stand alone installer for Sentinel – they’d just bundle that up into a single MSI and publish it. The main Setup.exe calls the .msi files with specific command line arguments that are not documented anywhere, and does some other things under the hood to prepare for the MSI execution (this is why the installers generate Setup, ILog, and MSI log files during installation – these are all generate by separate processes, only the MSI log file is generated by the MSI, and it’s generated last). On the plus side, I demonstrated the issue with the communication drivers package to the OI Server PM, and if the installer hasn’t been pulled from the website yet, it will be soon. We can’t have upgrades for one product break the main Setup for all other System Platform products, so that patch is being recalled so that it can be fixed. there are three paths: 1. Wait for the Standalone installer for Sentinel and the fixed communication drivers package – apply both, and re-evaluate 2. Uninstall all software – manually, if the Setup.exe doesn’t work, then reinstall everything including Sentinel, then apply the existing communication driver package 3. Uninstall all software – manually, if the Setup.exe doesn’t work, then reinstall everything including Sentinel, and wait for the updated communication driver package to be released
