How to reset J5 admin password if lost.  Only valid when using j5 authentication (DBAuth)

 

In the event the j5 administrator web application password is forgotten.  Follow the following steps to reset:  Please note:  You will need to know the database username/password and connection details used by the j5 system before proceeding.

Use Windows explorer to navigate to the following folder location on the j5 server.
Please note:  The folder “ProgramData” is a hidden folder.  Enable show hidden folders under the explorers “View” menu.

Make a backup of the database.yml file and then delete the file.

 

Run the j5 setup wizard.
You will need to fill in the “Database Setup” dialog with the appropriate information.

After filling out the “Database Setup” dialog click the “Next” button.

You are now presented with the “Password Policy Setup (DBAuth)” dialog box where you can specify a password for the user “Admin”. 
After filling out the dialog click the next button to finish the setup.
