Details

Remote Desktop Services (RDS) configuration tools available with Server 2012 and 2012R2 require the server to be a
member of a domain.  The following are instructions for setting up RDS for a server that is a member of a workgroup.

Start by opening Server Manager.

Click on the link to Add roles and features.

Next click on the Next > button three times to skip over the next two dialogs.

Select the Remote Desktop Services Role, and then click on the Next > button three times to skip over the next two dialogs.

Select the Remote Desktop Session Host Role services option.

Click on the add features button, and then select the Remote Desktop Licensing role services option back on the previous screen.

Click on the add features button, and then click on the Next > button on the previous screen.

Click on the Install button to complete the installation.

Note:  It may be necessary to Specify an alternate source path for the Windows Server installation media.
