Details

It is possible to reference a tag in a remote application (one running on another computer) inside of a local InTouch application on a different machine. To do so, you will first have to set up an access name to the WindowViewer session on the remote machine. The second part involves creating an I/O tag in the local application that references the tag you are trying to read in the remote application.

NOTE: WindowViewer must be running the application on the remote machine for the live value to update.

  1. In the local application set up a new access name following the example below.

Node Name: <Host Name / IP of remote machine>

Application Name: VIEW

Topic Name: tagname

  1. In the local application create a new I/O tag in the Tagname Dictionary that references the InTouch tag on the remote system/application.

Access Name: Access name you mapped to the remote InTouch application.

Item: Tag name of the tag in the remote InTouch application.
