TN - 1151 ABCIP and Max CIP Connections
The “Max CIP Connections” setting is used by the ABCIP to determine how many concurrent connections to the PLC are opened at the same time.
- Typical default is 4.
- Valid range is 1 - 31
For the MicroLogix (Max CIP Connections setting is available only if the CIP connection is selected)
- The default value is 1
- Valid range is 1 – 31
Setting Max CIP Connections too high can cause the data updates to become extremely sluggish since the PLC can run out of resources to handle the runtime logic and update for the control items.
Also setting the Max CIP Connections too high could result in an error msg from the controller "Connection Manager cannot support any more connections" or “STS=10: Illegal command or format” messages in the logger. It may be necessary to decrease the maximum CIP Connections parameters to maintain communication with the device.
