Details

The following error was found in the Log Viewer on multiple Windows 2022 Servers following the upgrade to System Platform 2023 P02.  Each of the servers was configured with the Remote Desktop Services role.  An InTouchViewApp is deployed to each platform.  The same error message is logged multiple times a second.

Error

InTouchViewAppRuntime Primitive -  Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID{51D955B1-B086-11D2-BFB1-00104B5F96A7} failed due to the following error:800703fa Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800703FA).

Solution

Enable the following Windows User Profile Service feature:

1.) Open the Group Policy editor (Gpedit.msc) on the affected server.

2.) Open the User Profiles folder in the following path:  Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates System > User Profiles

4.) Locate the "Do not forcefully unload the user registry at user logoff" setting.

5.) Change the State to Enabled.
