TN DAS152 Creating an OPC Connection through the Wonderware Gateway OI Server

This article from InSource walks through setting up an OPC connection through the Wonderware Gateway OI Server.

Step 1)  Right Click on the Configuration and choose "Add OPC Connection":

Step 2) Click the ellipse button beside Server Name and select the appropriate OPC Server.

Step 3) Select the OPC Server from the list. 

In this example I have connected to the Matrikon OPC Simulation Server:

Step 4) Right click on the OPC Object name and select rename:

In this case I have renamed this to OPC.

Step 5) Right click on the OPC Object and select "Add OPCGroup Connection":

Step 6) Click the "Browse OPC Items" button and confirm you are able to see items from the OPC Server and drag them to the basket as below:

Step 7) Right click on the OPC Group Level object and select rename.

In this case, I will rename it to group.

The Device Group Name below will be the topic needed for connecting to the OPC Items over the Gateway OI Server.

Step 8) Right click the Gateway OI Server and select "Activate":
