How to create a button on your Citect SCADA  HMI to launch Microsoft Excel

 

 

This Tech Note walks you through how to configure a button on your Citect SCADA HMI to launch Microsoft Excel.

1 In your Citect Graphics Builder open the page you wish to add the Button to. Then on the drawing tools click on the Button icon and place this on your canvas.

2 The Button Properties will appear and in the text type Launch Excel and choose the relevant Font, Style and Size.

3 Next click on the Input Tab and select the Action Up then click on the down arrow as seen below and select Insert Function.

4 Scroll down or type Exec which will automatically take you too the correct Function then click the OK Button.

5 Type in Exec("C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\Excel.exe") then click the OK Button.

6 Save the Page and then click the Play Button to start your Citect SCADA HMI. Click on the newly created Launch Excel Button.

7 Microsoft Excel will now launch.
