Details
After a password update, the Change Network Account utility fails with error, "Timeout waiting for connection". Additional logger message, "Net TCP Port Sharing is disabled or not running."
Open Windows Services and check the TCP Port Sharing service; it may not be running.
The TCP Port Sharing service is a broker type service which manages multiple source connections to the same port and is normally running by default. This service is used by AVEVA to manage access to ports required to be available for various processes. There are multiple possible reasons why this service is not running such as installation of KB updates.
From within Services, you can right click and start TCP Port Sharing, after which, the AVEVA/Wonderware Change Network Account should complete successfully and without issue.
