TN HistClient127 How To Use Target Regions With The Historian Client

InSource_Logo_Transparent.png

Description

This article from InSource shows how to configure and use target regions within the Historian Client. This can be very powerful for spotting problems in process values as they occur without having to train personal on the exact value to look for (all they see is that the trend looks different and is therefore drawing their attention to it).

Step 1

Open a trend and select the desired tag and time range as shown below:

Right click anywhere in the trend and change the time to Relative Time as shown below:

Step 3

Double click on the tag to bring up the properties of the tag as shown and select the target region tab:

Step 4

Notice the trend time changes to a relative time based on the duration previously selected:

Step 5

Now we need to "tell" the Historian Client what the trend line should look like (under ideal conditions).  I have found it is helpful to watch the trend and use the horizontal and vertical sliders to help get numerical values.  We then have to set the target region as follows:

Time, Low, High

This can also be imported as a CSV from excel.  I already had built mine (see step 3 above), but basically you are telling the trend what it should look like 1 minute from now (high and low) and so on until you fill the entire trend.  You configure this just as shown in step 3 above by inputting the values. Once you complete that you get this:
