Details
The ThinManager Application Link option limits a session to run a single application. This prevents the user from access to the terminal server desktop. It dedicates the session to the required application. The following is a screen capture of the Display Client Wizard configuration for Application Link. It is a simple checkbox to enable the option.
A problem is sometimes encountered where the application fails to startup after the Application Link option is enabled. The session may attempt to startup and then logs off repeatedly in an endless loop. It is necessary to configure the Windows RemoteApp Manager settings. The following dialog is opened from Administrative Tools - Remote Desktop Services - RemoteApp Manager in Server 2008R2.
Click on the Change link next to RD Session Host Server Settings to open the following dialog.
It is necessary to select the radio button to Allow users to start both listed and unlisted programs on initial connection found under Access to unlisted programs. Click on the Apply or OK button to save the changes. Restart the display client in ThinManager to verify that the Application Link is now starting the application in the session as expected.
