Overview

The section below provides background information on the issue that was experienced.

Have developed an InTouch application and want to create a backup for recovery purposes, or for moving the application to a different system.

Resolution

The "lorem ipsum..." section below should be replaced with a description of the solution provided in repeatable steps.

There are a few ways to backup InTouch applications, depending on what type of application is used and how the backup is intended to be used in future.

Backing up the Tagname Dictionary:

Stand-Alone and Published InTouch applications:

  1. Shutdown WindowMaker or WindowViewer if either is currently running.
  2. Open InTouch Application Manager by going to Start > Programs > Wonderware > InTouch.
  3. A list of applications will be displayed. Right click on the application you are concerned with and select DB Dump.
  4. Select where the file should be saved, and the name it should have, and then press the OK button.

Managed InTouch applications:

  1. Shutdown WindowMaker or WindowViewer if either is currently running.
  2. Open the ArchestrA IDE if it is not already running, but going to Start > Programs > Wonderware > ArchestrA IDE.
  3. Select the appropriate Galaxy and press the Connect button.
  4. In the Template Toolbox find your InTouchViewApp template object.
  5. Ensure the object is currently Checked In.
  6. Right click on the object and go to Export > DB Dump.
  7. Select where the file should be save, and the name it should have, then press the OK button.

Backing up the entire InTouch application:

Stand-Alone and Published InTouch applications:

  1. Shutdown WindowMaker or WindowViewer if either is currently running.
  2. Open InTouch Application Manager by going to Start > Programs > Wonderware > InTouch.
  3. A list of applications will be displayed. Find the column labeled Path, and note the location.
  4. Open Windows Explorer and browse to this folder on the hard drive.
  5. Right click this folder and either copy and paste it to a new location, or right click and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) Folder. This will create a compressed copy of your application.

Managed InTouch applications:

  1. Shutdown WindowMaker or WindowViewer if either is currently running.
  2. Open the ArchestrA IDE if it is not already running, by going to Start > Programs > Wonderware > ArchestrA IDE.
  3. Select the appropriate Galaxy and press the Connect button.
  4. In the Template Toolbox find your InTouchViewApp template object.
  5. Ensure the object is currently Checked In.
  6. Right click on the object and go to Export > Object.
  7. Select where the file should be saved, and the name it should have, and then click the Save button.
