[ISS Support Case] missing NT SERVICE (virtual) users

Last updated: October 17th, 2025

Description

Don't attempt to call my office phone number. Email is the easiest way to reach me. Thanks. According to TN_WW241_NT_Services_that_must_not_be_excluded_from_the_Administrators_group Certain virtual accounts must not be deleted from the box in order to have a stable system. On our various Historian boxes, I see that the following user is referenced in the local Administrators group, but does not exist as local user: NT SERVICE\aaPim. Likewise, on the servers that our OI Server runs on, the following 3 accounts are referenced in the local Administrators group, but do not exist as local users: NT SERVICE\aaPim, NT SERVICE\adpHostSrv, NT SERVICE\simHostSrv. Numerous of these types of orphaned account entries exist in the aaAdministrators group on our Historian boxes as well. I'm wondering how everything can continue to run with these local accounts missing? What are your recommendations? The whole reason I'm researching this is because of a couple of failures (that required reboots) in one of our OI Server boxes -- the that now appears to be because of that box needing to be re-joined to the domain.
