Before you Begin
Before you begin the installation, you should check Wonderware's OS Compatibility matrix on the the Wonderware Support site at www.wonderware.com/support
(Access to the Wonderware support site requires a one time registration. You will need your Customer First Contract number and a corporate email address; use of a non-corporate email address such as Gmail or Yahoo will limit your access)

The following are the hardware requirements and recommendations for Wonderware Information Server 2012 R2 (v5.0).

Wonderware Information Server supports IPv4 only.
You must install Microsoft Excel with the Visual Basic for Applications feature on the Wonderware Information Server computer in order for Wonderware Historian Client published reports to be viewed.
The Wonderware Information Server installation program scans for these components. If the MSXML and Capicom components are not installed, the installation program silently installs them to the target computer. Note the following important information regarding individual components:
| Windows SharePoint Services: | To use the MultiView feature, you must install and configure Windows SharePoint Services WSS 3.0 before configuring the MultiViews feature in Wonderware Information Server. To use Windows SharePoint 3.0, you must install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or later. Also install any WSS Language Pack for languages you want Wonderware Information Server to support. The MultiView feature is only supported on 32-bit operating systems. |
| SQL Server Reporting Services: | To use the ArchestrA Reporting feature, you must install and configure SQL Server Reporting Services and set up a reporting database before configuring the ArchestrA Reports feature in Wonderware Information Server. The versions of SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services used must match (for example, both 2008). |

Licensing
Wonderware Information Server
The following are the feature lines in the local license that enables Wonderware Information Server 2012 R2 (v5.0) functionality:

Wonderware Information Server 2012 R2 (v5.0) uses the following licenses:
- ArchestrA.lic to enable the portal functionality.
Install this file in the node that hosts the portal. - ArchestrAServer.lic to enable clients access to the portal.
Install this file in the node that hosts the ArchestrA License Server.
Note: Wonderware Information Server 4.5 and earlier licenses cannot be used for Wonderware Information Server 2012 R2 (v5.0). Contact your local distributor for assistance.
Additionally, Wonderware Information Server 2012 R2 (v5.0) supports using a centralized licensing server to manage client licenses.
