Problem

Event VIewer reports CREATE DATABASE or ALTER DATABASE failed because the resulting cumulative database size would exceed your licensed limit of 10240 MB per database SQL Server Issue

Solution

This message indicates that the free SQL Server Express edition which has a limit of 10 GB is installed. You can check from SQL Server Management Studio by running query SELECT @@VERSION That message only indicates either a CREATE or ALTER were being attempted. Either way, upgrading to the full version of SQL Server is recommended.
