Description

DAServer Access is denied.

When attempting to configure a DA Server from the Wonderware System Management Console (SMC) and save the settings an error is displayed saying “Access Denied”. Because of this error the user is prevented from configuring the DA Server.

Solution Details

This issue is caused by configuration files for the DA Server being inaccessible due to Windows security settings. To solve this modify the settings on the DA Server configuration files.

Note: The following steps are for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.

Solution Steps:

  • Close the SMC.
  • Go to Windows Explorer and browse to C:\ProgramData\Wonderware\DAServer\[DASERVERNAME]
Note: The ProgramData folder is hidden by default.

Within the folder you will find two configuration files. Highlight each file independently, right click on it, and ensure the Read-only option is unchecked, then press OK.

  • Once you have made the modification, go back into the SMC and configure the DA Server as desired.
