Connecting to RSLinx with FSGateway

Description

Sometimes connecting directly to RSLinx is required when an appropriate driver is unavailable. This article will explain how to connect between RSLinx and Factory Suite Gateway (FSGateway) to make data available to Wonderware products.

Details

1. Configure RSLinx to communicate with your PLC as normal.
2. Open the SMC and expand the DAServer Manager, and the FSGateway driver.
3. On the left, left click on Configuration, then right click on Configuration and select Add DDE Object. Rename this object to RSLinx.
4. Click on the RSLinx object that you've created and on the right enter "RSLinx" into the Server Name.
5. On the left, left click on the RSLinx object, then right click and add a Topic object. Rename this object to PLC.
6. Click on the PLC object and note the Device Group Name listed on the right, you'll need this when connecting with other Wonderware products.
7. Activate FSGateway.
