This Tech Note walks you through how to configure a button on your Citect SCADA HMI to launch Microsoft Excel.

1. In your Citect Graphics Builder open the page you wish to add the Button to. Then on the drawing tools click on the Button icon and place this on your canvas.
   
2. The Button Properties will appear and in the text type Launch Excel and choose the relevant Font, Style and Size.
   
3. Next click on the Input Tab and select the Action Up then click on the down arrow as seen below and select Insert Function.
   
4. Scroll down or type Exec which will automatically take you too the correct Function then click the OK Button.
   
5. Type in Exec("C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\Excel.exe") then click the OK Button. 
   
6. Save the Page and then click the Play Button to start your Citect SCADA HMI. Click on the newly created Launch Excel Button.
   
7. Microsoft Excel will now launch.
