Details

It is recommended to replace the legacy native InTouch real-time data connector when upgrading to SmartSights XLReporter 16.2 or higher.  The Aveva Gateway OI Server is the best option to replace the direct connection that was used previously.  Typically, InTouch HMI is upgraded at the same time to Aveva 2023R2SP1 or higher.

Start by clicking on the Connectors button from the XLReporter Project Explorer.

Next, delete the existing InTouch direct access connector.  Click on the Add button.  Expand out AVEVA folder to select OI Gateway Real-time values and click on the OK button.  Use the same name as previously (InTouchDA in this example) for the Connector Name.  Click on the Test Connection button and then click on the OK button to save the change.

The next step is to configure the Gateway OI Server.  Open the Operations Control Management Console (OCMC).  Right-click on OI.Gateway.3 to select InTouch Connection.  Enter the path to the InTouch project on the local machine and then click on the Tag Browser button.

Highlight to select all of the required tags from the InTouch project.  Click on OK to added the selected tags to the Device Items.  Click on the save icon in the upper right of the screen.

Next, each of the reports will need to be updated for OPC.  Double-click on the first report template from the Project Explorer.

Click on the Connect button to edit the connections.  Select each of the InTouchDA items one at the time and click on the Modify button.

Start by click on the ellipse button to open the Tag Browser.  Expand out Online to select Tagname.  Select the required item from the OPC server.  A filter may be used to narrow down the tag list.  Next, click on the right error to move the tag into the Selected Items.  Click on the two OK buttons to return back to the Data Connect screen.

Select the next InTouchDA item in the list and click on the Modify button. Repeat the steps for each InTouchDA item.
