TN - Hist1498 Error in Trend Control Client: You have reached the maximum tag limit of 30

Last updated: March 18th, 2026

Description

  • Author: Ernest Lee
  • Published: March 18th, 2026

Details:

From Historian 2023, users may encounter a blocking error when attempting to add tags to the Trend Control Client. Specifically, while adding more than 30 tags, the following error popup appears:

HistClientReplicated.png

The restriction to 30 tags was intentionally implemented in the Historian Client 2023 R2 version. This change was introduced to restrict the performance impact of generating and executing complex SQL queries for large numbers of tags in the backend simultaneously.

Resolution:

This behavior was reviewed and subsequently reverted to the previous unlimited behavior in the following update:

  • Historian Client 2023-R2-SP1-Patch01 and onward
