Occasionally attempts to deploy a platform may fail, or the deploy process may complete with no apparent warnings, but the icon for the Platform will display as if the Platform is not deployed after the deploy process has completed. The icon for the platform in the IDE will show an overlay of a small gold/yellow box.

There are many possible causes for intermittent deployment failures, but one possible and easy cause that can be checked is to find out if IPv6 has been enabled on the target platform. Wonderware does not currently support IPv6 and it is known to cause deployment problems, so it should be disabled on all machines running Wonderware products.

The following screen shot is an example of the kind of warnings that can be observed with performing a cascade deploy with IPv6 enabled.

The following steps should enable you to check, and if necessary disable IPv6. The exact steps may vary depending on the operating system running on the affected machine.

  1. From within the Control Panel > Network Connections, click Advanced on the menu bar and then from the drop down click Advanced Settings. If the menu bar is not displayed, you may be able to get it to show by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard.
     
  2. On the Adapters and Bindings tab, look at the lower pane “Bindings for Primary Network”
    If the check boxes for “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) is checked, uncheck for all networks.
