Description

This article from InSource shows what to check when you are unable to access the AVEVA Help documentation.

  • Applies to: AVEVA System Platform 2023 and above

Details

Beginning with the the 2023 release of the AVEVA system platform, AVEVA introduced AVEVA help 1.0.0; transitioning from traditional .chm-based help. Product documentation is now served through a locally hosted web application installed alongside the product. In some scenarios launching the product will result in a network connection error.

On Chrome this looks like :

This site can’t be reached  localhost refused to connect.

Try:

  • Checking the connection
  • Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

On Edge this looks like:

Hmmm… can't reach this page localhost refused to connect.
Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Open the Services console using whichever method you’re comfortable with: e.g. enter services.msc in the Run dialog (Win + R), from the Start menu search, or via the Command Prompt.

Locate the Product Help Viewer Service, if it's not running start the service.

Once its running you should be able to access the help site.
