Details

Attempts to open a DA Server’s configuration within the Wonderware SMC fails with the following message;

'Global Parameters' cannot be shown or configured because the corresponding editor for the item is invalid or has not been installed on this machine. Please install the editor and try again.

If you encounter this message, there are several steps that you can take to try to resolve the problem.

The first thing you can try is to logon with the ArchestrA account assigned to the system, or run Wonderware's Change Network Account Utility.

If the problem persists, you should make sure that the Operating System's User Account Control is set to Never Notify. You can search for UAC or User Account Control from the Operating System desktop.

If after trying all of the above, you are still unable to open Wonderware's DA Server Manager for a DA server from within the System Management Console, it may be because as file called *.aarul has become corrupt. For example, if you are trying to open the DA Server Manager to an instance of a DASABCIP DA Server, the corrupt file would be called DASABCIP.aarul. The path to the *.aarul file depends on the DA server that cannot be opened, but will be found in that DA Server's corresponding file at Local Disk(C:)\ProgramData\Wonderware\DAServer\

If you have the same DA server with the same configuration on another machine, you can simply copy the *.aarul from that machine to the same path on the machine on which you are unable to open the DA Server's configuration. Otherwise you may have to reinstall the DA server. However, to save reconfiguration time, you can make a backup copy of the *.aacfg file from the same path, and then copy that *.aacfg back into the DA Server's configuration folder after reinstallation. You should rename the *.aacfg or be prepared to overwrite when performing this step.

Note that often the ProgramData folder cannot be seen by default in Windows Explorer. If that is the case, you can use Window Explorer "Change Folder and Search Options" to "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives" on the View tab (see screen shot below), and select the option for "Show all folders" on the General tab.
