Microsoft software updates are important because they often include critical patches to security holes. Many of the most harmful malware attacks take advantage of software vulnerabilities in common applications, like operating systems and browsers.
Most manufacturing organizations are required to use Microsoft Update to install updates for your computer's operating system, software, and hardware. New updates are released every month to help protect your computers and to keep them running smoothly. However, it is important to manage installation of Microsoft updates to prevent problems which could arise when a Microsoft update is incompatible or otherwise unsupported for use with an AVEVA Wonderware product.
AVEVA’s goal is to verify that AVEVA software will work with Microsoft Security Updates within 15 business days of release by Microsoft. Any exceptions to this will be listed on the AVEVA Security Central Web page.
AVEVA Wonderware products which are current mainstream support-level products are tested. A listing of all tests performed against Microsoft updates is available on the AVEVA support site at the following URL
The list of tested updates date back several years. An archive link will list older update testing back as far as the year 2006. With such a large archive of testing results, you may want to take advantage of a site feature which allows export of the AVEVA's Wonderware test results in an Excel compatible format. It is then possible to open the list in Microsoft Excel. This is a valuable asset to anyone who needs to determine which updates can be safely applied to operating systems hosting AVEVA Wonderware software.
After logging into the AVEVA support site, you should locate and click the link for Security Central.
Your browser will open the main Security Central page. Three tabs are available. Make sure that your browser’s focus is on the default tab, “Microsoft Security Updates Reports”. From the “Select Product Line:” dropdown, select Wonderware.
A listing of AVEVA tested Microsoft Updates will now be displayed. You can manage the number of posted testing reports displayed using links at the bottom of the page. An icon link above and to the right of the listing of test results will export and download the full report to your default download folder. You can then open that report in Excel.
