Issue: On Windows Server 2016, attempted to install SQL Server 2014 (not express). The server had TLS 1.2 on it but the install required TLS 1.0. To complete the SQL install, TLS 1.0 needed to be enabled on the Server. This tech note explains the process to enable TLS 1.0.
Process to Enable TLS 1.0
Step 1: Open up regedit.exe and navigate to the key location provided:
Step 2: Expand the Protocols -
Step 3: Enable (or disable) the protocol (Server or Client) and set the binary value as follows:
0 - off
1 - on
0x00000000 - off
0xffffffff - on (4294967295)
Step 4: Save the registry and reboot the server.
