TN DAS153 Connecting to an OPC UA Server through the Wonderware Gateway OI Server

This article from InSource walks through setting up a connection to an OPC UA Server through the Wonderware Gateway OI Server.

Step 1) Right click the Configuration and choose "Add OPCUA Connection":

Step 2) Right click on the new OPC Object and select Rename.  

In this case I have renamed the object to OPC.

Step 3) Enter the OPC UA Server Information:

Step 4) Right click on the OPC Object and select "Add OPCUAGroup Connection":

Step 5 ) Rename the new OPCUA Group by right clicking on it and selecting "Rename":

In this example, I have renamed it to Group:

The Device Group Name below will be used as a topic when connecting to the Gateway OI Server.

Step 6) Right click on the Gateway OI Server and choose "Activate":

Step 7) Test the connection.

In the example below, I am using Wonderware client to test the connection to the OPC UA Server:

 

First go to Connections \ Create:

Enter gateway for the Application name and the Device Group Name from Step 5 will be your Topic:

Finally, Go on the Item Menu. In the Item box enter the name of the OPC UA Item you would like to read and click the "AdviseEx" button:

If you have established good communication the quality of the item you are reading will be 0x00c0 as below:
