TN HistClient104 How to change a default setting for Historian Client Trends

Description

Often times, users may want to change a setting in a Historian Client Trend and have all new trends keep this setting. This tech note walks through making changes to the default trend.

Details

An example of a change that may need to be reflected in all new trends is the live mode Refresh Interval. In the screenshot below, this setting has been changed from the default rate of 1 to 5 seconds.

In order to make sure this change is reflected in all new trends, you will first need to find where the default trend is located for your user account.  In the screenshot below, the Operating System is Window 7 and the user account that has default trend below associated with it is Administrator. "AppData" is a hidden file and will only be visible if you Operating System allows you to see hidden files.

If you are unable to see the "AppData" folder under your user account, you may need to setup your Operating System to show hidden files as in the screenshots below:

Once you have located the Default trend, open it up by double clicking on it and then make any configuration changes that you wish to be included in the default settings and click the save button on the menu bar as below.

The next time this user creates a new trend it will have this setting. If you wish this to be the same for all users the default trend will need to be copied to the same location for all users accounts that will be creating new Trend files.
